Las Arenas La Paz Fish Report, Isla Cerralvo
¡Feliz día del padre!... Happy Fathers Day weekend En Estados Unidos y México!!! A very interesting week, y great week of fishing with mixed kinds of fishes en the Las Arenas, Cerralvo Island Region. First, we kept a sharp eye on Tropical Storm Cristina. Not a big threat, but we need to have precaución! This week, there was even Yellowtail to add to the catches of Big Roosterfish, Wahoo, Pargos, y nice Dorado. Un Marlin y 3 Sailfish was captured y released at Isla Cerralvo!
Our cliente David Y. of Pasadena CA said to me "you can turn back the clock to the days of "Old México" in this area." Even with populization, and modernization of the world on the rise, our area still remains tranquilo, almost as it was over 25 years ago. David tells me he has fished the peninsula de baja for 40 years, including San Felipe, Loreto, Los Barriles, y Las Arenas Isla Cerralvo area. He sais that the east cape region y cabo san lucas has been over developed and over crowded, y too modernized also. He returns to us for fishing because he loves the tranquilo "Old Baja México" feeling he gets here! He also complains y jokes that our place is not opened yet. He is one of the few clientes we let take a tour of our Hotel before it opens, he is a very good amigo! He said "great, it is small y tranquilo, just the way I was hoping it would be!" The Cerralvo Island region is an area where today many of the roads are still dirt terrain. Come enjoy it while it lasts, who knows, maybe some time far en el futuro, our area will grow too! Las Arenas La Paz Fish Report, Isla Cerralvo
Feliz Sabado mis amgos! Great fishing week here en the Las Arenas, Cerralvo Island Region. The Big Roosterfish, Big Wahoo, y Big Dorado are the main focus this past week. With nice Big Bull Dorados coming in better numbers. No Marilins or Tunas this week because everyone was happy catching the Wahoos, Roosterfish, and Dorado.
Muchas gracias to our cliente John Brighton from Orange County, California. He shared this fotos of his flight out of Tijuana, to La Paz with Volaris Airlines. He tells us he loves flying with Volaris, y it is much much cheaper also! He has been doing it for the last 3 years! But everyone is different. Las Arenas, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo Fish Report
Happy Memorial Day week end to all of my pescaderos in the USA! Fishing was good this week, but with a couple windy days here on the Las Arenas side of La Paz. The big Roosterfish are coming in bigger numbers. Our construccion workers say they are watching them chase bait on our beachfront! Dorado y Wahoo are also coming to us in bigger numbers. The Dorados are medium sizes. We have even captured Yellowfin Tuna y Marlin also! On one day our clientes from Arizona CA captured y released 2 Striped Marlin! Our pangeros also are catching some big yellowtail for our clients at a spot they ave not made known. I would like to say thank you to our fishing clients who return to us many many times... This is a foto of our pangeros making bait befor they head to the Isla Cerralvo. It is only 6.5 miles to isla Cerralvo from our beachfront location! I was informed by a client that Isla Catalina en California is 26 miles from the closest pointy y fishing is only so so! Only 6.5 miles sounds better to me! We are excited for the summer! Las Arenas, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo Fish Report
Better water conditions y no winds was better for fishing this week... We had very may Roosterfish y Wahoo this past week! The Roosterfishes were very big! Our capitan captured a Roosterfish over 35 kilos for our cliente! We are very disappointed to discover it was not released! Isla Cerralvo y Punta Arenas were great places to capture the Roosterfish. There were also some big Roosterfish captured in the sandy beaches between El Sargento y Las Cruces up to 23 kilos! Most of the Wahoos were captured around Punta Norte de Isla Cerralvo. We are still getting some Yellowtail and Amberjack too! We are excited for summer!
What a great foto de Punta Arenas y Isla Cerralvo! These warm y tranquilo tropical waters are a fishermans dream! Happy Mother's Day to all the madres of the world! Those of us living in here en Mexico know that today, May 10th is Mother's Day! How about some fishing news! Great fishing this week! Bigger Wahoos y bigger Roosterfish! Many Dorados being captured here also! Y believe it or not, the yellowtail do not want to leave us, but that is good news! The same kinds of fishes as last week with Roosterfish, Wahoo, Cabrillas, y Yellowtail with some Amberjack too! A few Marlins are being captured by accidente. Not many people are fishing for Marlins! Newer Starbucks Coffee shop en Tijuana Internacional Airport! Now days many Southern Californians are Flying to us out of Tijuana Internacional Airport! It is very common to see planes booked with over 50% Americans flying direct into La Paz! The fairs are much cheaper with Volaris, and a taxi is only $10 to the Tijuana Airport! Volaris has new planes and is very clean and modern! Las Arenas, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo Fish Report
A couple windy days, but great fishing for all when the pangas went out. Air y water temperaturas are rising, and the fishing too! Much of the same catch as last week with Roosterfish, Wahoo, Cabrillas, y still some Big Yellowtail around! Dorados y Marlins are getting better and better every day! There was good Wahoo fishing also but the fish seemed smaller than last week, y better numbers of Wahoos! The island was the best spot for all fishing. Roosterfish getting better and more active along sandy beaches, and the back side of Isla Cerralvo. June is only un month away, wow!... Now is the time to book a fishing package with us for the Summer of 2014!

Las Arenas, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo Fish Report
A great mixed bag of fishing this week! The full moon is behind us, and water conditions are much better. The catch included Roosterfish, Wahoo, Big Cabrillas, still some Big Yellowtail (Jurel), Dorados, y Marlins tambien! The big attraction was the great numbers of Wahoo that were captured during the week! The island, Las Cruces, y El Sargento were very good for Dorados. Roosterfish are being captured y released in great numbers too! The wahoo fishing has been circa Punta Sur, y El Punta Norte de Isla Cerralvo. This will be great year of sport fishing!!! Big sized Roosterfish are being captured right now throughout the Las Arenas area, which includes Isla Cerralvo, y El Sargento areas. Like we mentioned over the last month, the Roosterfish were here, but no personas were fishing for them. Big Yellowtail are "still" being captured here around Isla Cerralvo. Again, good sized Dorados were were being captured too! Once again, El Bajo was great for fishing also for Yellowtail for the few personas who went there. Three Marlin were captured y 2 were released! Get ready for your summer vacaciones! The season is getting better y better here south of La Paz en the Las Arenas! Big sized Yellowtail are being captured right now throughout the Las Arenas area, which includes Isla Cerralvo! There are Roosterfish here, but no personas were fishing for them. Big Yellowtail are "still" being captured so late in the season! Again, very big sized Dorados were were being captured too! Las Arenas, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo Fish Report
A good week of sportfishing here in Las Arenas! Yellowtail and cabrilla were the main targets. Y like normal other fishes were captured. A few Dorado, Wahoo, y Jack Crevalle were captured also. Marlinas were spotted but not captured. The water is really warming up to the mid to hi 70s around Isla Cerralvo. Y fishing has again been both at Punta Sur, y El Punta Norte de Isla Cerralvo. Fishing will continue to get more better as the sport fishing season continues to change here south of La Paz en the Las Arenas Region! Now is the time to book a fishing package with us!

Las Arenas, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo Fish Report
A great mixed bag of fish for our clientes y commercial capitans! If you can think it, our fisherman caught it! Roosterfish, Wahoo, Big Cabrillas, Pargos, Big Yellowtail (Jurel), Dorados, y Marlin tambien! Some fisherman fished the back side of Isla Cerralvo too, but much fishing has been both circa Punta Sur, y El Punta Norte de Isla Cerralvo. This is a great transition time when two seasons of fishing overlap. A great year of sport fishing is coming to the Cerralvo Island Region! One more good week of fishing! Fisherman captured lots of very Big Amberjack (pez fuerte), Big Cabrillas, Big Yellowtail (Jurel), y Big Sierra otra vez!
This fisherman could not wait for the panga. He took a foto of his very large Cabrilla he captured on the beach while waiting for his panga right from our beach! He captured y released 3 cabrillas from the beach. Otra vez, most of the fishing has been circa El Punta Norte de Isla Cerralvo. Some windy days, but the parte importante is to be in the waters early before the winds started around noon. Very nice Cabrillas, Big Yellowtails, y Big Amberjacks with just 2 Pargos reported captured! Private boat fisherman have also reported some Dorado and Wahoo. Better condiciones again! Calma waters helped fisherman catch lots of very Big Sierra, Big Yellowtail (Jurel), y Big Amberjack (pez fuerte) this week! 
This sierra en the foto was very big y round, but our amigo is a very large man, y makes the fish look small! All of the fishing has been en El Punta Norte de Isla Cerralvo. Also very many large Bonito y nice Cabrillas, with just a few Pargos captured! The capitans also reported few Dorado, y 3 Roosterfish taken too. Las Arenas, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo Fish Report
A good week of fishing with great mix of nice Yellowtail, Big Cabrillas, Pargos, Sierra Mackerel, y Skipjack tuna for the catch. A few very large Wahoo captured at the parte norte de Isla Cerralvo. Some calma days heve helped fishing. Not many fisherman fishing right, just very much Americans y Canadians here to get out of the snow. Our commercial pangero y capitans have been taking much of the catch. There also been some Dorado, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, y few Roosterfish taken as well en diferente areas en the Channel de Isla Cerralvo y along the beach near Punta Gorda y El Sargento. "Today I look out over Isla Cerralvo Channel, y Bahia de La Ventana, there is winds. Good news for Windsurfers, bad news for fisherman here en the Las Arenas Side of La Paz, BCS . Winds have been off and on this week. Fishing was good for those who went out fishing. There have been some Wahoo, Dorado, Yellowtail, Pargo, Skipjack, y Sierra captured. Only 2 medium size Roosterfish were reported captured also. Some boats were trying to fish the sheltered area near Bahia de Los Muertos, en the Las Arenas región. "A steady week of Fishing in the Las Arenas Side of La Paz, BCS this week. There have been a mixed variety of good fish being capture such as Yellowtail, Dorado, Pargo, Sierra, Roosterfish, Cabrilla, and Jack Crevalle. A few Pargos are being taken in shallow water at Isla Cerralvo, y near Bahia de Los Muertos. Also, some Yellowtail were captured at the north end of Isla Cerralvo weighing about 10-12 kilos Many kiters still fill the waters en Isla Cerralvo channel en Bahia de La Ventana. Winds were present this past week, with early mornings being best for fishing conditions. Roosterfish are seen chasing bait near sandy beaches all around the Las Arenas región. "Mejores condiciónes"... This winds were much lighter this week y fishing was better, and a few more persons fishing this week. There is more kiters than fishermen as normal for our región in January. A few Yellowtail were captured at the north y south end of Isla Cerralvo weighing about 10 kilos. Medium size Dorado are still being captured. Sierra, Bonita, y Skipjack tuna being captured as well. Mi amigo Miguel de Los Planes captured a large Wahoo at La Reinita with size estimado around 35 kilos. Roosterfish are still active around sandy beaches all around the Las Arenas región de Baja Sur. "La misma canción"... Much of the same song y dance this week with Sierra Mackerel, Bonita, y Skipjack tuna being most of the catch, with some Yellowtail, Cabrilla, Dorado, Jack Crevalle, y Roosterfish still being captured. Wind was unwelcome by the fisherman on some days. Only a few people fishing to fill in a day of activities. The better exotic species were captured at Isla Cerralvo by comerciál y private pangeros who actually fished for them. An "OK" week of fishing with Sierra Mackerel, Bonita, y Skipjack tuna for most of the catch. The few people fishing right now are not "fishermen", they are Kiteboarders looking to fill in a day of activities. These folks are happy catching Sierra Mackerel, Bonita, y Skipjack tuna. More exotic species of fish would be taken if people wanted to fish for them. There have been some Yellowtail, Cabrilla, Dorado, Jack Crevalle, y Roosterfish taken as well. Commercial pangeros have returned to the beach with a few Wahoo taken at La Reina y La Reinita, inside of Isla Cerralvo. Only 1 Striped Marlin was confirmed by a local private boater. Roosterfish y Ladyfish, the smaller cousin of the Tarpon are seen chasing baitfish early in the mornings along the beach near Punta Gorda y El Sargento, across from Isla Cerralvo. Las Arenas, La Paz, Isla Cerralvo Fish Report
We are proud to post our very first Fish Report of 2014! Seasonal cooler water fishing was on the light side this week in the Isla Cerralvo / Las Arenas region, south of La Paz. I always snicker when I say "cooler water fishing", as sea temperatures are holding around 73 degrees, and this is standard for this time of year. Wahoo are definitely present at both north y south ends of Isla Cerralvo with "few" anglers choosing to target them. The rule was big Bonito, Skipjack tuna, y Sierra... with a few smaller Cabrilla taken in-shore, and some descent small to medium sized Dorado being taken around the buoys in front of the El Sargento area, in the Cerralvo Channel. The goal was to get on the water early before the winds started. We're optimista that fishing should be a bit more on the upswing this coming week.
