The Cerralvo Island region south of La Paz is a haven for Baja Fly Fishing enthusiasts in pursuit of a world record, or the fish of a lifetime! After all, the World Record Roosterfish of 114 pounds was caught here in Las Arenas just a few miles from our resort! The crystal clear waters in the Cerralvo Channel are without a doubt, one the most fish rich bodies of water in the world! Jacques Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez “The World’s
Aquarium”. The Cerralvo Region is one of the best for Kayak & Fly Fishing in Baja. These prolific waters are home to one of the biggest varieties of inshore and offshore gamefish found anywhere on the planet! Target species range from Blue, Black, and Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Dorado, Yellowfin Tuna, Roosterfish, Jack Crevalle (Toro), Amberjack, Yellowtail, Pargo, Pompano, Grouper, and many others! The glass calm waters of the Sea of Cortez makes Fly Fishing and Kayak Fishing here so desirable. Your panga boat captain can literally get the boat just a few yards off the beach without worrying about big waves to maneuver around, which is really critical when it comes to chasing big Roosterfish and Jack Crevalle along the beach. After your panga returns to Hotel Vista Cerralvo from a days fishing, you can continue fishing for Roosterfish, Jack Crevalle, and many others right from our beachfront location!

No Van Ride, Less Boat Ride, More Fishing Time!
If
you’re torn between SportFishing out of La Paz, or other East Cape
resorts, then your prayers have been answered! Our Sportfishing
Resort in Baja Mexico is located where La Paz’ Las Arenas side overlaps
with the East Cape region of Baja California Sur Mexico, in the Sea of Cortez. Don’t be on
the last boat out to the fishing grounds... early boat get's the Hoo!!! Hotel Vista Cerralvo is just
minutes away from the world famous Cerralvo Island, the 88 Bank, Roca
Montana, Punta Arena, Punta Perico, El Bajo, La Reina, La Reinita, Las
Cruces, Muertos Bay, El Sargento, La Ventana Bay, and the red hot Punta Gorda just across from Cerralvo Island in the channel!
Fishing this area from La Paz is a 75 mile round trip boat ride to the north end of Cerralvo. From Los Barriles, it’s also a 75 mile round trip boat ride to the southern end of Cerralvo. Other hotels do offer shuttle services back and forth through the desert mountain roads to reach our area, but it’s a two hour round trip! When your boat returns to Hotel Vista Cerralvo, you can first grab an ice cold drink, then grab your fly rod or spinning gear and continue fishing for Roosterfish, Jack Crevalle, Pompano, Pargo, and Cabrilla right from our beachfront on foot, kayak, or ATV! It’s very common to see huge Roosters and Jacks crashing baitfish right from our beachfront location. All pelagic gamefish entering the Sea of Cortez must first pass Cerralvo Island, while migrating both in and out of the Sea of Cortez.
Here’s the Bottom line… No van ride,
Less boat ride, more fishing time!
Don’t spend precious hours of your dream vacation getting to the fishing grounds! Stay with us and fish longer! This area is completely overshadowed by other East Cape resorts, which keeps our location one of Baja’s best kept secrets!
